If you’re looking for unique fashion finds, in an outdoor environment, being surrounded by fellow fashion lovers AND supporting local designers and retailers, then PaluluLove is for you. This pop-up sale continues to build momentum, with each sale bigger than the last.

This is because it is such a fresh, vibrant approach to shopping. I’m personally more thrilled that this serves as a platform where all types of retailers can present their offerings without the “mall” vibe of jumping from store to store, usually having to walk from one side of the mall to the other.

“A lot of times, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.” – Steve Jobs

This is what makes PaluluLove work as well as it does; this very simple business principle. I wish Palesa Mashiyane all the best on this very exciting path she’s on.

Vintage finds

Originally used by military personnel, today the duffle bag has evolved to everyday use by everyday people. Pictured above is my boyfriend’s leather duffle bag, which belonged to his grandfather. It’s still in pretty decent shape; must love vintage finds.

What weight?

I’m on a bit of detox (read: diet) because I’ve been feeling strangely ‘larger’ than my usual self. I was merrily carrying on until I read this:

“why do you live in your body like you will be given another? as if it were temporary. you starve it, you let anyone touch it, you berate it. tell it that should be completely different. you tug at your soft flesh, wish it thinner, wish it gone. you fall in love with those who praise the way it sighs under their hands, but who praises the way it holds up your weight, even when you are falling apart?” – Warsan Shire

You don’t search for the perfect job; you create it— either within an existing organization or on your own.

Words of wisdom. First came across this line towards the end of last week whilst reading a Forbes article on “How To Plan Your Life, When You Can’t Plan Your Life”. In that moment, I silently acknowledged this statement as the defining phrase for my life this year. One can’t keep jumping from job to job hoping the grass is greener when deep down you know it is really, actually greener where YOU water it. If you can’t have what you want where you are right now, create it yourself because only YOU know what you really want. And this is the reason this is such an exciting time/year/moment. It’s simple, your future depends on you.

2013 | OUR Year

On a weekly basis last year, I’ve tried to listen to Oprah’s commencement address at Spelman College in order to keep her wonderful gems of advise top of mind in my daily life. She reminds the class that the ancestors and angels had already paved the way before them, saying, “Your crown has been paid for, put it on your head and wear it.” Definitely one of the highlights of this address.

She stressed the following pieces of advice that she felt would be valuable to the female class:

  • Know who you are and what you want.

  • Find a way to serve. Greatness is determined by service.

  • Always do the right thing. Be excellent, let excellence be your brand.

  • Surround yourself with people who are accustomed to success. People who want the best for you.

If we can all attempt to live by these points, I think we’ll all be better off. Here’s to a great 2013 folks!
