She’s officially a fashion plate!
Often called the First Lady of Fashion, and aptly so, Mrs Obama’s style gives stiff competition to that of Jackie Kennedy. Her style single-handedly re-injected the spirits of ‘presidential’ fashion by combining the style of avant-garde newcomers to well established, top-end designers.
All of this is now being celebrated on an actual plate which bears her image, i.e. a porcelain commemorative plate from the Bradford Exchange. It shows Mrs. Obama in her Jason Wu white inaugural gown. “Richly edged in platinum and over 100 hand-set faux jewels. It is the first in a series of plates featuring Mrs. Obama’s fashion choices that the company plans to issue, said Suzanne Magnuson, a product manager.
Next up: the black sequined Peter Soronen gown from the National Governors Association gala!” – according to Bradford.
There will be at least four plates in the series, enough for a small dinner party.
The Danbury Mint, a competitor to the Bradford Exchange, also offers a plate with a montage which includes six of her outfits.
